Green Beans Sabji

Green beans are cooked in numerous ways across India. This is how I prepare this sabji in my house. I do not use any spices in this dish so the taste of green beans is not masked. This dish is a very healthy option for kids.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 Gm Green Bean
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Stalk Curry Leaves
  • 1/4th Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4th Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves
  • Salt

Method
 

  1. Chop green beans finely.
  2. In a pot heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts to sputter, add turmeric powder, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  3. Add chop green beans and 1/2 cup water.
  4. Add red chili powder, sugar and salt. 
  5. Keep the lid on and cook the beans. 
  6. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
