Lal Bhopla (Red Pumpkin) Gharge
Pumpkin gharge is a traditional Maharashtrian recipe. Red pumpkin and jaggery is a tasty and delicious combination. Rice flour gives the gharge a nice crunch. Jaggery cooked with pumpkin and deep fried creates a crunchy and nutty flavor. It tastes heavenly when served with clarified butter. This dish can also be served as snack.

Lal Bhopla (Red Pumpkin) Gharge
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cup Grated Pumpkin
- 1 Cup Grated Jaggery
- 2 Tbsp Wheat Flour
- 1 1/2 Cup Rice Flour
- A Pinch Of Salt
- Oil For Frying
Instructions
- In a pan add grated pumpkin. Keep it on a low heat and steam it for 5 minutes. Keep it covered.
- Add grated jaggery.
- Saute it till the jaggery melts.
- Turn off the burner and let the mixture cool.
- Add wheat flour, rice flour, a pinch of salt and knead a dough.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Make small balls of dough.
- Take a plastic wrap. Apply some oil on it. Take one ball, press it by hand and make small patties.
- Fry the patties in the hot oil on medium heat.
- Serve it with clarified butter.
