Caramelized Onion

Caramelized onion is a versatile dish. It is used in many cuisines and in many dishes. You can use it in soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, tarts, pastas. This dish is a amalgamation of sweet and sour taste. Onions have a sweet taste which is complimented by adding vinegar to it. Caramelized onions always add a subtle flavour to the main dish.

Caramelized Onion

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Onions ( 2 Cups)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Plain Vinegar
  • Salt

Method
 

  1. Julienne Onions.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pot.
  3. Add onion.
  4. Add sugar, vinegar and salt.
  5. Sauté on medium high for 5 minutes until onion becomes translucent. Stir occasionally.

Notes

The onion should retain a little bite. Do not overcook it.
