Fresh Turmeric Pickle

This is a very simple seasonal pickle made with fresh turmeric. It needs a handful of ingredients and it gets ready quickly. It is a really tasty condiment.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 Gm Fresh Turmeric
  • 1 Small Lemon
  • 2 Inch Ginger
  • 4 Tbsp Pickle Masala
  • 3/4th Cup Oil
  • 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Asafoetida
  • Salt

Method
 

  1. Peel the turmeric and ginger. Finely grate them.
  2. Squeeze lemon juice. 
  3. Mix grated turmeric and ginger. Add pickle masala and lemon juice and salt to it. 
  4. Mix all the ingredients. 
  5. In a pot heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts to sputter add asafoetida.
  6. Cool the tadka and mix it in the pickle. 

Notes

This is a winter special pickle. The fresh turmeric is generally available in the winter. Keep this pickle in the refrigerator and it will stay good for a week.
While grating fresh turmeric your hands will be dyed with it’s yellow color. It will wash off in 1-2 days.
