In a frying pan take 2 tbsp oil and heat it. Fry gram flour in this oil on a low heat till it gets golden brown. Remove it from the burner. Let it cool.
Add water and make a smooth paste. Dissolved all the lumps.
In a different pot heat remaining 3 tbsp oil. Add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts to sputter then add turmeric powder, asafoetida and red chili powder.
Add chopped spring onions. Saute for 5 minutes on low heat.
Add coriander powder, cumin powder, gram flour paste and salt. Let it mix well and cook for 10 minutes on a low heat stirring continuously.
