Fresh Green Peas Usal

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Fresh Green Peas
  • 1/2 Cup Cashews
  • 1/4th Cup Freshly Grated Coconut
  • 1 Cup Freshly Chopped Coriander
  • 1 Medium Green Chili
  • 1 Tsp Grated Ginger
  • 1/4th Tsp Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/4th Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4th Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4th Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Remove peas from the pod.
  • Heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When they starts to sputter add asafoetida, turmeric powder.
  • Add cashews, peas and water.
  • Saute for 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Blend together coconut, coriander, green chili, ginger, lemon juice.
  • Make puree by adding a little water.
  • Add this puree to the vegetable.
  • Add sugar, salt. Saute for 5 minutes.
  • Serve it with chapati.

Notes

I have used only 1 chili. You can adjust the heat as per your liking.
