Dates And Tamarind Chutney

This is a versatile chutney. The sweetness of dates is well balanced with sour taste of tamarind. This chutney is used in chat dishes like Bhel Puri, Pani Puri, Shev Puri, Ragada Patice. It can also be served as a compliment to vegetable parathas.

  • 250 Gm Dates
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Tamarind Pulp
  • 1/4 Cup Jaggary
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 3/4th Cup Water
  • Salt


  • Soak the dates in hot water for 1 hour.
  • Deseed the dates.
  • In a blender mix dates, tamarind pulp, jaggary, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and blend it to a fine puree by gradually adding water.


I have used store bought ready to use tamarind pulp.
