Shepu (Dill) Chi Bhaji

Shepu (Dill) is usually used as an herb in western cuisine, however it is used as a main ingredient in this simple recipe. Garlic balances sharp taste of dill and yellow moong dal gives some crunch to this recipe. It can be served with chapati/Bhakri.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cup Chopped Shepu (Dill)
  • 1/4th Cup Yellow Moong Dal
  • 12 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4th Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Soak the moong dal in water for 30 minutes.
  • Chop garlic.
  • In a pot heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts to sputter, add turmeric powder, asafoetida, red chili powder and chopped garlic.
  • Add soaked yellow moong dal and water. Cover the pot with lid and let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add chopped dill and water. Mix it well, cover it with lid and let it cook till the dill is fully cooked.
