Dudhi Halwa
This is a delicious sweet dish made from dudhi (bottle gourd). It can be made fairly quickly for any special occasions.

- 1 1/2 Cup Grated Dudhi
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Ghee
- 1 Tsp Charoli
- 10 Cashews
- 5 Almonds
- 1/4th Tsp Cardamom Powder
- A Pinch Of Nutmeg Powder
Instructions
- SoakĀ the almonds and cashews in water for 1 hour.
- Grate the dudhi.
- In a pan heat ghee. Add the grated dudhi and saute it for a minute.
- Add 1/2 cup of milk and cook the dudhi for about 10 minutes.
- Add sugar and cook for 10 minutes.
- In a blender make a puree of cashews and almonds (with little milk).
- Add the above puree to halwa.
- Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder and charoli.
Notes
This recipe does not require store bought mava which is traditionally used. In-spite of that it tastes delicious and sumptuous. Eliminating mava also cuts down on the calorie content of this dish.
