Piyush
This is a very popular Maharashtrian drink. With a couple of added ingredients yogurt can be transformed into a refreshing drink. You can also call it lassi with a twist. Try it to believe it.

- 500 Gm Plain Yogurt
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Lemon
- 1/4th Tsp Cardamom Powder
- 1/4th Tsp Nutmeg
- A Generous Pinch Of Saffron
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl take yogurt.
- Mix juice of one lemon.
- Add water and sugar to it.
- With a whisk dissolve the sugar into yogurt and water.
- In a microwavable bowl take about 1 tbsp of water and mix saffron in it. Microwave it for about 10 seconds.
- Add the saffron to the sweet yogurt.
- Add cardamom and nutmeg powder.
Notes
I have used store bought yogurt. Make the piyush a few hours ahead of serving and keep it in the refrigerator. It tastes good when served chilled.
