Dahi Pohe Gokulashtami Special

Dahi pohe is traditionally served during the festival of Gokulashtami. All the ingredients used in this dish are a favorite of Lord Krishna. Since Gokulashtami is a celebration of birth of Lord Krishna, this dish is made using all his favorite ingredients. The recipe is very simple but the dish is really tasty. The flattened rice is flavored with yogurt, milk. The roasted peanuts adds a nutty taste which is balanced with spicy chilies. Mixing bananas keeps you wondering about the background taste it adds to this dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Coarse Flattened Rice
  • 1/2 Cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1/2 Cup Plain Milk
  • 1-2 Green Chilies
  • 2 Tbsp Roasted Peanuts
  • 2 Small Bananas
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Wash the flattened rice. Drain all the water.
  • Chop green chilies.
  • Chop coriander leaves.
  • Mix flattened rice, plain yogurt, plain milk, green chilies, roasted peanuts, chopped bananas, sugar, salt, chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve pohe at room temperature.

Notes

The flattened rice soaks up all the liquid. So if you are making this dish ahead of time then you might have to add yogurt and milk again before serving it.
