Bhel

Bhel is a mouth watering  chat dish. It can be eaten as a snack or as a meal. Typically you will find a lot of chat selling joints near sea side in Mumbai. One bite and you will want to eat more and more of it.

This dish uses following chutneys: Red Chili Chutney , Coriander And Mint Chutney , Dates And Tamarind Chutney

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Packet of puffed rice
  • 1 Packet of medium shev
  • 1 Packet of fine shev
  • 1/4th Cup Roasted Peanuts
  • 4 Potatoes Medium
  • 6 Onions Medium
  • 4 Tomatoes Medium
  • 1 Tsp Chat Masala
  • Red Chutney
  • Green Chutney
  • Dates And Tamarind Chutney

Instructions
 

  • Prepare red, green, dates and tamarind chutney.
  • Boil the potatoes. Cut them into small pieces.
  • Finely cut onions.
  • Finely cut the tomatoes.
  • Mix puffed rice, medium shev, roasted peanuts, chat masala,  potatoes, onions, tomatoes, red, green, dates and tamarind chutney.
  • Serve it in a bowl and garnish it with some fine shev.

Notes

I have used puffed rice and medium shev. You can roast the puffed rice to give it extra crunch. Alternatively you can use ready made dry bhel packet. 
This recipe does not require measured ingredients. The recipe is accommodating and can be prepared as per ones liking. You can use all the chutneys as per your taste.
During summer time, you can find raw (green) mangoes in the market. They can also be used in bhel. They give a nice tangy taste to the bhel.
